This study evaluated the ability of the FINDRISC questionnaire, which is a screening tool to assess diabetes risk and detect undiagnosed type 2 diabetes, to predict insulin resistance in individuals at increased risk of diabetes. The FINDRISC significantly correlated with markers of insulin resistance. Moreover, the FINDRISC at baseline was associated with 3-year changes in glucose tolerance. Therefore, the FINDRISC may be a suitable tool to identify individuals with insulin resistance as well as those at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
