Description

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the triglyceride/HDL cholesterol ratio predicted cardiovascular events and total mortality in women (n=544) undergoing coronary angiography for suspected myocardial ischemia. Total mortality and cardiovascular events increased through triglyceride/HDL cholesterol ratio quartiles. The ratio was an independent predictor of mortality when adjusted for age, race, smoking, hypertension, diabetes and angiographic coronary disease severity. However, for cardiovascular events, the relationship became nonsignificant when adjusted for angiographic coronary disease severity.
