Professor Griffin holds a Personal Chair in Nutritional Metabolism at the University of Surrey in the UK, where he is Leader in Metabolic Medicine, Food & Macronutrients within the Department of Nutritional Sciences. After his BSc in Medical Laboratory Science (Portsmouth, UK), he obtained his PhD on the effects of exercise and diet on human plasma lipoproteins (Aberdeen, UK), and postdoctoral training on the pathological biochemistry of serum low density lipoprotein at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. His current research on the impact of diet and lifestyle factors on cardiovascular disease, focuses on serum lipoprotein and cholesterol metabolism, personalized nutrition, and cardiometabolic risk. He lectures on BSc and MSc degree programmes in nutrition & dietetics, nutrition & food science, and nutritional medicine. He is a member of the International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk (ICCR), Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Nutrition, Council Member for Academia for the British Nutrition Society, and Registered Nutritionist (RNutr), through affiliation with the Association for Nutrition (AfN, UK). He has received over £3.5m in research funds as a principal and co-investigator, and published 137 peer-reviewed papers (H-Index 42).
