Description

An intriguing study on the relationship between sleep duration and disturbances in indices of plasma glucose insulin homeostasis. The authors found that short and long duration sleep times were associated with type 2 diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance in adults. This finding held true even after adjusting for several confounders. Possible explanations for this intriguing relationship are provided, such as the fact that lack of sleep may impair some mechanisms controlling energy intake.
