Obesity is a lifestyle disease that is becoming one of the greatest public health challenges of the 21st century. Unless we make significant changes to both our diet and way of life, the prevalence of obesity will continue to increase in Europe. Three simple targets are proposed to educate and mobilize European citizens: eat well, drink well, and move. Europe could play a key leadership role in the battle against chronic “societal” diseases. The objective of the meeting held on September 17, 2013 was to develop simple and pragmatic recommendations based on scientific evidence which could be translated to all European citizens. The launch of the European Alliance for Lifestyle Changes concluded this successful conference.
