Description

A descriptive paper on the relationship of alcohol consumption and regular physical activity with the apolipoprotein (apo) B to apo AI ratio in a cohort of 64-year old post-menopausal women with various degrees of glucose tolerance. The authors found that moderate alcohol consumption and regular physical exercise were both associated with a lower apo B/apo AI ratio and that the effects of alcohol and exercise were additive. These results are consistent with the recommendation of promoting physical activity and encouraging moderate alcohol consumption to prevent CVD.
