The prospective associations between sugar-sweetened beverages and coronary heart disease (CHD) were assessed in the Nurse’s Health Study, where 88,520 women were followed for 24 years. The relative risk of CHD increased significantly in women consuming more than 1 serving/day (1.23, 95% CI: 1.06-1.43) and ≥2 servings/day (1.35, 95% CI: 1.07-1.69) of sugar-sweetened beverages compared to those consuming less than 1 serving per month.
