This review paper discusses the complex links between intra-abdominal (visceral) adiposity, inflammation and hypertension. The clinical implications of these findings are also highlighted. The paper draws special attention to the link between intra-abdominal adiposity and metabolism, intra-abdominal adiposity and inflammation, intra-abdominal adiposity and hypertension, and to the therapeutic implications for patients with intra-abdominal obesity.
