The Hungarian Cardiometabolic Foundation and the Hungary-wide network of Cardiometabolic Prevention Centres are directed by Dr. Csaba Farsang, who is also head of Hungary’s first hospital department on cardiometabolic diseases, based at St. Imre Hospital in Budapest. The Foundation is a multidisciplinary organization focused on several fields of study, including abdominal obesity, diabetes, endocrinology, lipidology, arterial hypertension, and cardiology. The Foundation and the Hungarian branch of the International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk will be inaugurated on Friday, February 17, 2008, at St. Imre Hospital in Budapest. Taking part will be Hungarian health minister Ágnes Horváth; several rectors of Hungarian universities; Prof. Denis Richard of Université Laval in Québec City, where the Chair is based; Prof. Jean-Pierre Després, the Chair’s scientific director; and Foundation director Dr. Csaba Farsang.
The ceremony will be followed by a press conference and a scientific symposium in the afternoon.
